Once you're ready to give your survey a test run, hit the Preview button on the top navbar of your survey dashboard:

This opens a new tab in Preview Mode, where you can complete your survey as a participant without actually adding any data to your results pages.

Note: on devices with smaller screens, like smartphones and some tablets, the Preview button may turn into a smaller 'eye' icon or hide behind a triple dot ( ⁝ ) icon.

Your survey preview page can be shared with non-users, letting you give access to colleagues who need to test your survey without them needing to create an OpinionX account.

There are two key features only available on Preview Mode:

  1. Jump To Step

  2. Edit Survey Theme

1. Jump To Step

On the banner at the top of your Preview Mode tab, you'll see a dropdown component that says ( Step 1 / x ) → this feature lets you jump to different sections in your survey without having to complete every question. This is particularly useful when you want to test configurations like branching, profile logic for conjoint rank, or translations in multi-language projects.

2. Edit Survey Theme

The other banner icon is for editing your survey theme. Here you can pick from a selection of curated themes or set your own custom colors. This feature is also available from a shortcut on the Survey Setup page, where you'll see a 'Design' button on your dashboard navbar.

Where do you find the link for sharing your survey with participants?

When you're ready to distribute your real survey to participants, grab the sharing link rather than copying the preview URL. You can find the sharing link and embed code by clicking the big "Share" button on the top right corner of your survey dashboard.

Spotted a mistake but you've already shared the link with participants?

Don't worry! Here's how you can temporarily close your survey, how saving works on OpinionX, and some info on how to contact us with other questions.
